Measured My Own Knowledge Base Against Eight Alternatives

Ran a structured audit of my own knowledge system against eight competing memory systems I'd been watching from the sidelines. To avoid defending a year of work I didn't want to throw away, I set up a separate evaluation environment with no access to my project history, no context about what I'd already built, and strict rules about touching the live system. Four architectural observations surfaced during the run — one of them a real bug worth fixing. When the first verdict came back too favorable to my own system, the evaluator ran a self-audit that retracted or softened half the rankings and revealed the question the audit was actually built to answer: are my 2,855 stored documents load-bearing or just accumulation? Built the diagnostic to find out, then stopped before committing to any architectural change. Patience over momentum.
