Cross-stack Research: How Four Open-Source Memory Systems Handle the Hard Problems
Spent a session deep-diving four well-regarded open-source projects in the memory and retrieval space. Each one has a strong opinion about something different — graph traversal, multimodal ingestion, document parsing, daily journaling. Came away with a clear adaptation plan: which patterns are worth porting, which are incompatible with the existing stack, and which are interesting but premature. The session produced a single canonical synthesis memo that future planning rounds can pull from without needing to redo the comparison.
